Valentine’s Day in lockdown – How to style your home.
With most of us not being able to leave our homes this valentine’s day, we have come up with a few simple ideas to style your home by re-using some of your Christmas decorations to create a romantic mood at home, without being too cheesy or over-spending. It does not matter if you want to add a touch of romance to every room or transform your whole house; these ideas are sure to put a smile on your partners face.
Create a rose wall.
The first thing that comes to mind for most of us on valentine’s day is roses or flowers. Using some of our floristry picks and flowers, you can create your very own floral display. Go all out and create a floral wall by hanging faux roses using fishing wire; this not only creates a romantic feature but also creates a fantastic backdrop for photos of you together to remember the occasion.
Make a Valentine’s Day Wreath
We know the Christmas decorations have not been packed away for too long, but upcycling your Christmas wreath is a simple way to add a romantic feel to your home. Create a valentine’s wreath by adding pink, red, and white baubles to your Christmas wreath as well as adding in red hearts and floral accessories for those finishing touches.
Change the furnishings.
A few of our favourite yet simple things to create a romantic atmosphere are using different ornaments in pink, red and white; using red flowers, candles, and red figurines to add finishing touches to your space. You can also create a cosy holiday atmosphere by merely adding red or pink linen, red bedspread, or pink cushions in other rooms. For something more unique, mix in different textured decorations like pom-poms or paper decorations in different colours. Add the textured decorations different rooms throughout your home to create an exciting, interesting, and totally- unique look.
Get Crafty!
If you fancy getting creative and putting your DIY skills to the test, why not personalise some of your old Christmas baubles, transforming them into bespoke valentine’s day decorations. You can paint a personalised, romantic message to your loved one or even paint cute hearts all over the baubles. – you might even like to do this together and create an at-home date night.
Adding Fairy Lights
You can fill old jars with the fairy lights that you may have used over the Christmas period for a little extra sparkle. Add fairy lights to the jars and place around your home. This look is angelic, and the jars can be placed throughout your home to create a truly magical atmosphere.
Adding Candles
Decorating with candles adds a warm feel to your home. If a power outlet is not nearby, or you are worried about having candles near kids or pets, choose battery-operated LED string lights or faux LED candles. A combination of fairy lights and candles creates a romantic and intermate feel perfect for valentine’s day.
Adding Valentine’s Day décor to your home does not have to be complicated. And you do not have to go out and spend a lot of money, by merely using decorations that you already have you can create something romantic, magical, and memorable.
