How many Lights?
How big is your Christmas tree? How well lit do you want your Christmas tree to be? (Think Rockefeller/Blackpool Illuminations vs a subtle nod to Christmas tree lights).
A general rule we apply is to calculate using the number of bulbs rather than the popular method of metre run as this will allow you to gauge what level of lighting you wish to achieve. Some 20 metre Christmas Tree Light sets have 200 bulbs and others have a larger spacing gap between therefore fewer bulbs, therefore less illumination.
For a 6ft Christmas Tree, we recommend approximately 200 bulbs for a good coverage, the lights, of course, are just a small element of the Christmas tree decoration. For guidance on the full tree decoration please click here.
Braving the elements or tucked up next to the fireplace? Note that Christmas tree lights are available in both indoor or outdoor options, whilst having heavy duty ones inside isn’t going to cause an issue, having indoor lights on a tree sat in your garden would certainly not be advisable. IP44 rated lights are specifically designed for outdoor use.
Happy Illumination and Merry Christmas.
